Opened in 1939, on the eve of the WW2, Aro Palace Hotel Brasov was designed by Horia Creanga, the nephew of our well-known writer, Ion Creanga. The name of Aro Palace is inherited from Asigurarea ROmaneasca (Romanian Insurance), that provided the money to finance the building.

Between the 1950s and 1960s, when Brașov was called the City of Stalin, the Aro Palace hotel was christened Carpathians.

In order to increase lodging capacity, it was decided the hotel expansion; therefore the new wing started to be built on 1963 and was ready to receive its guests two yeard later, being designed by the late local architect, Iancu Radacina.

Aro Palace represented, for the XXth century’s Brasov, the milestone, ground 0 of the town watched over by Tampa mountain. Nowadays, the hotel twists gracefully the interbelic period with high technology, so that makes it preferred as destination also for nostalgic persons, as for the new generation, so needy for progress and tech.

Over the 80 years of presence in Brasov, Aro Palace Hotel gathered stories with actors, singers and concerts at Cerbul de Aur Festival, members of presidential missions, ambassadors, political and cultural figures from all over the world; has been hosting thousands of weddings, christenings, conferences or congresses; enjoyed souls.

Majestic, Aro Palace Hotel witnesses the sunset over the old town of Brasov, admires the Citadel, the Town Hall and the old Thieves Path over the Central Park. Aro Palace Hotel remains the symbol of Brasov, alongside all the known and loved places: Piata Sfatului, Republicii street, Tampa and the old fortress walls, museums, art galleries, romantic caffees, shops and squares.
